Shizuo Heiwajima Returns

It had been a very long day, a day spent transferring through airports and trains. Being able to relax in the Okinawa Islands had been enjoyable, but he was glad to be returning to the bustling city he called home; Ikebukuro.

Slightly bronzed from the tropical sun and feeling rejuvenated, he contemplated about how much has probably changed after a whole week had passed. He pondered this as he gazed out the window of the lonely train car. Surprisingly, it had been barren of any passengers for quite some time. He took this opportunity to relish in the final few hours of peace and tranquility.

He knew that once he made it back to Tokyo, once he made it back to Ikebukuro, his hectic life would be his own again. Days lazing about in sunshine and eating as many sweet island delicacies as he could fit in his mouth were over. It was back to being a debt collector, a bodyguard, and resident badass.

Feeling antsy and bored, he browsed through a few of the parcels he had with him; his simple backpack of clothes and other items, as well as a few gift bags filled with souvenirs for his companions.

A small, lucky cat statue for his brother, Kasuka. A touristy coffee mug for Shinra. This strange perfume that held the scent of the islands for Celty (honestly, he had no idea what to buy a girl, especially for someone like his headless friend, but figured it was the thought that counts) There were other small trinkets for the rest of the few misfits who didn't fear him.

He paused as his hand slid across one present that was placed at the bottom of the bag. His heart gave a sudden spasm of anxiety, his cheeks instantly darkening with a blush. He turned the object around in his grasp. It twinkled in the dim light.

It was a keychain. A charm. Specifically, it was a love charm. The design on the charm was beautiful, intricate, elegant. It was attached to a golden chain. He heard that mischievous cackle ring in his ears. Deep down, he missed him while he was away, and wondered for a moment if the other man missed him. The thought quickly flew away though. He sighed, slinking in his seat.

He giddily hopped from one foot to the other as he waited for the train to arrive. Of course, he knew for a fact that this wasn't the stop the debt collector would be getting off at...he'd done enough research to know that if he got on the train at this very point the blond would be stuck next to him for a full hour before being able to get away...and he wouldn't be able to throw a vending machine in close quarters like those.

He smirked as the train stopped and slipped in un-noticed by the other passengers. Seeing the seat in front of Shizuo was free, and that the ex-bartender wasn't paying any attention he gave a sly smile and jumped into the seat right in front of him. He waited until the train started up again to lean over the seat in a way to where he would have been on top of the other man if it weren't for the chair in between them.

He looked amused suddenly and grabbed Shizu's bag full of souvineers grinning like a school kid as he unzipped it.

So, he was no longer daydreaming, having heard the playful chirp of the confident man he had on his mind. His blithe, taunting voice was annoying as ever. He felt a pang of gladness that he didn't change during his short-lived absence, but he was struck out of his reverie to focus fastidiously on Izaya.

Hastily, already breaking into a nervous sweat, he shoved the charm in the pocket of his jeans. He fixed a fierce glare right at Izaya, forcing himself to plaster a grin on.

"A-Ah, flea! Didn't think I had to see your face again so soon after my trip..."

He blinked, looking dubious and slightly bashful when Izaya leaned in closely, their lips so close to meeting. He fought hard to keep from blushing, or closing the distance completely. There were still a few watchful eyes surrounding them, dammit.

After a moment of silence, he was caught off guard when Izaya had snatched the bag away so suddenly. He turned irritated again. He gripped onto the strap to pull it back.

"N-None of these are for you." He hissed through gritted teeth, becoming a little flustered. In the struggle to retrieve the parcel, he heard a small jingly sound clatter to the floor. The charm had fallen out of his pocket. He anxiously tore his gaze away to glance at the floor, scanning the ground for the trinket.

He heard the clank of metal against the floor and grabbed up the charm with lightning quickness dangling it inbetween them. It was only when he realized what it was that his ears flushed red and he looked him in the eyes.

Time seemed to stand still at that moment when Izaya held the charm in his possession. He just became a solid statue of silence, his expression unreadable. Worry flickered in his intense eyes for a second.

His eyes widened and he made a quiet noise of surprise when the train ceased on the track, extemporaneously catching Izaya in his arms to stop him from his unruly descend.

He gripped one strong hand upon Izaya's shoulder, chuckling in chagrin. Averting his gaze, he glanced to a corner to hide his embarrassment. Knowing he couldn't fool Izaya with a lame fib, honesty slipped out automatically.

"Y-Yeah. Have your laugh now, while I'm still in a good mood." He muttered a bit shakily, trying for nonchalance, yet failing miserably. He was still looking away. The hand was trembling slightly atop Izaya's shoulder.

He straddled him and pulled his jacket around them both before crushing his lips to the other mans. He smirked slightly and uncharactaristically wrapped his arms around the other man's neck, nuzzling into him before nipping his ear and whispering to him.

"Do you love me Shizu-chan?"

He nipped his neck and flicked his tongue over his ear before taking the charm and adding it to his cellphone with a euphoric looking smile.

"Thank you Shizu."

He was definitely not expecting what had transpired next.

"Eh, Izaya..." He began a bit awkwardly, clearing his throat. "Here's our stop, I think. Let's go."

Whether Izaya would mind or not, he just didn't stop to think about the consequences; he laced his fingers with Izaya's and led him out of the train to the station, still busy even this late at night. He gripped the other man's hand tightly, brimming a bit with nervous elation. He felt like a school girl on her very first date, hilariously enough.

He gave a sly smirk seeming to enjoy the attention when the people stared and laced his fingers through Shizuo's getting off of the train with him. He grazed his teeth over Shizuo's hand and kissed it letting the passengers on the train know that they were most certainly together before they got off.

He skipped off of the train looking at the charm and smirked up at him slyly pulling off his blue sunglasses to look him in the eyes.

"And where are we headed?"

He stopped in front of him and leaned into him not letting go of his hand. His sly smirk grew.

"So if I wear this charm, does it make me yours?"

Nearly forgetting all about his belongings and the other gifts, he inwardly chastised himself, pulling Izaya through the crowded station.

He didn't release Izaya from his grasp, grinning as they strolled onto the familiar escalator that ascended to the outside, where the city was aglow with activity and nightlife.

Looking on ahead of them, he felt teeth and lips press into his knuckle. It made his stomach do crazy acrobatics, his heart leaping with excitement. He finally turned to glance at Izaya with a perfunctory glare once his beloved blue shades were taken from him.

His expression softened when he chuckled, smiling and with an eyebrow quirked. He pondered the question.

"Hmm, that depends...Where ya wanna go?"

He scoped through his eye's view of Ikebukuro, sighing in contentment. It was not only good to be home at last, but great that he was actually holding hands with the enemy he was in love with. It felt like a pipe dream; a high that he would not fall down from, but he was falling for Izaya. The descend would only cave him in deeper and deeper.

When Izaya spoke again, he snapped his attention back to him. He eyed the charm, and regarded Izaya with a quixotic look, an odd sort of shyness and fondness etched in his grin.

He looked away, but he still kept Izaya at his side, still smiling.

"Basically, yeah. Got it from a swindling old hag. Dunno how well it works..."

I severely hope it's actually legit, though.

He smirked slyly and skipped backwards not relinquishing the hold on his hand.

"I want to go on a date."

It was random, but it was on his mind. A playful smile crossed his lips and he eyed him, stopping in front of him so the other man would have to stop too.

"Can we go on a date this weekend Shizu-chan?"

His smile broadened as he leaned in, his lips brushing the blonde's ear as he stroked a hand through his hair.

"We'll still look like enemies to everyone else, but if you want to test how well that charm works you can come home with me tonight."

He took the ring he'd removed from the chain and stuck it on his hand and then put the ring that was still on the chain around Shizuo's neck watching him admiringly.

He gave a slight smirk and took his jacket and shirt off before pulling Shizuo closer and kissing him deeply.
